Small things

How to release the yarn from a sweater.

Craft Pop is a new arts and crafts links directory brought to us by Quidnunc.org. There's a lot of stuff here that I hadn't seen before - Go explore a bit then add your site! (P.S. There's a separate section for weblogs.)

Older guest map entries are here for want of another place to put them.

Important

I'm a happy, healthy survivor of breast cancer at age 25 thanks to early detection by breast self-exam.

It is my most profound wish that all women, everywhere, do breast self-exams every month.
Here's how.
The most important thing is that you learn to know your own body and what is normal for you so that you can tell when something has changed.

Fiona!

...finished except for a foot or so of I-cord. I want to attach the I-cord to the bottom of the pocket to make a backpack kind of bag. This one, I think, has been claimed by the step-kid.

We got to keep a copy of our answers for the test and the enormously kind instructor made the correct answers available to us afterwards. The "final" results won't come for three weeks but all my answers were correct! Yippeeee!

I couldn't help myself. I've started my very own Fiona (note: the link is to a pdf file). It's an adorable little bag designed by Brooks of Brux Knits and I'm making it out of Garnstudio's Paris in colors very similar to the original.

And in non-knitting news I take the required medication calculation test tomorrow. The test (which is in Norwegian) involves lots of calculating strengths of various solutions and infusions and percentages and total volumes and I have to be 100% correct on this in order to be allowed to work as a nurse in Norway. (eep)

Any and all good vibes sent towards Oslo tomorrow morning (8 am GMT) would be greatly appreciated. That will be 3 am EST so feel free to send 'em before you go to sleep tonight if you're in North (or South for that matter) America. ;o)

Ooo, I've got lots of things to show off. First the finished Sitcom Chic!

Click here for different (larger) image and here for more information about the yarn and whatnot.

And here are the humble beginnings of the Crown Sweater...

"Long term committment" is the phrase that springs to mind. The green bits are done in duplicate stitch... I got eager to see how it would look so I've done the middle and the one on the right but not the one on the left. Oh, and another bit of information : Someone had left a comment here about the sleeves of this sweater looking very long in the picture. I have since found out that the model in the picture (seen here at Bea Ellis Knitwear) is wearing blue wrist warmers underneath the sweater, so the length of the sleeves in the picture is NOT accurate... meaning that they wouldn't likely drag in the barbeque sauce. ;o)

And finally here are a couple of shots of the table decoration at the reception (for the confirmation)...

I was responsible for decorating and am particularly pleased with the way the flowers and the place cards came out. The flowers are a white peony surrounded by lilacs, sweeet peas, baby's breath and white carnations. The place cards deserve a post unto themselves ... stay tuned!

Oh, gosh... I disappeared for a while didn't I?

I do have some good excuses : a 3 week class in Norwegian nursing, 2 confirmations (one of which was "ours") and the weather has been mostly good and it was the 17 of May, Norway's Consitution Day. And guess what I finished just in time?

I got most of it done during the classes... I left out the flower because of the resizing... and did the front a bit differently but as the recipient said with a smile and a pat on my shoulder : "We don't have to do everything by the book, do we?"

And I finished the Sitcom Chic! And started the Crown sweater last night. I have a good many things to share, including a closer up picture of the Heart Vest ... soon. ;o)
