Viking Patterns for Knitting is an amazing book, full of the things I'm fascinated by and feel some connection to by virtue of living in Norway. Begun in March 2002 and finished September 2003.

Michael's Sweater Stitch Patterns :: Aran Diamonds with Moss Stitch, Tight Five-Rib Braid Cable, Jacob’s Ladder and a 6-stitch cable from Barbara Walker’s A Treasury of Knitting Patterns and A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns.

I read about designing Aran sweaters in the Barbara Walker books and with inspiration from Elizabeth Zimmerman made a large swatch, mapped out the cable placements and am ridiculously proud of the result. It was a gift for my cousin completed sometime in 2001, I think.
